Control Noxious Gas Production and Odors
OCION BD41 / BIODEX is a mineral-based bacterial regulator that suppresses anaerobic bacteria growth while allowing the growth of beneficial aerobic bacteria and promoting biomass digestion.
The fermentation and decomposition of organic waste results in environmentally undesirable side effects, including the production of noxious/toxic gases like ammonia (NH3+), hydrogen sulphide (H2S), methane (CH4), and sulphur dioxide (SO2). Organic waste may also become a source of microbial groundwater and surface water contamination.
At recommended application rates: OCION BD41 / BIODEX suppresses species of bacteria that produce noxious gases. OCION BD41 / BIODEX easily achieves odour control and prevents solid build up in liquid waste systems. OCION BD41 / BIODEX may also be used in feedlot runoff pits, sewage lagoons, wastewater treatment facilities, and other organic sludges to control bacterial odours including the production of noxious gasses.
OCION BD41 / BIODEX regulates the following relevant bacteria in organic wastes:
• Methane producing bacteria:
Methane is a flammable, explosive, and powerful greenhouse gas.
• Ammonia producing bacteria:
Ammonia is harmful to the respiratory health of humans and livestock, and can be toxic at certain levels.
• Sulfur reducing bacteria:
Produce hydrogen sulfide, which is harmful to the respiratory health of humans and livestock, and can be toxic at certain levels.
• Denitrifying bacteria:
Reduce the essential nutrient, nitrate, to N2 gas.
• Sacharolytic aerobic bacteria:
Produce carbon dioxide, a major greenhouse gas.
